The renewable energy is key to reach the EU climate targets to decarbonize the economy by 2050. But it is necessary the implementation of energy storage solutions to increase the efficiency of the grid management. Also, as the electric vehicles (EV) market grows exponentially, many batteries at the end of their useful life (EoL) for EV applications are being processed as a waste.
The specific objective of this project is the development of a high-speed response system for electrical installations that have a double connection, that is, systems in which there may be a main supply and a secondary reserve supply (be it another connection to the network, a diesel generator or genset, etc.). These networks, mainly of industrial origin, allow to have a backup power supply in case the electrical supply from the main network fails, keeping all the loads considered critical for the development of the installation activities (production processes, security systems, etc …), avoiding disconnection during the process of changing from one network to another, thus avoiding the significant costs involved in untimely shutdowns in certain industrial or service activities.
A grant has been received from the Agencia de Innovación y Desarrollo de Andalucía IDEA, of the Junta de Andalucía, for an amount of 105.358,13 euros, co-financed by 80% by the European Regional Development Fund, FEDER for the realization of the project ELECTRICAL SWITCHING SYSTEM WITH 0 SECOND RESPONSE (CER0) with the aim of Promoting technological development, innovation and quality research.
