Smartgear Project

Development of advanced intelligent wireless control system

The objective of the project is the development of an intelligent advanced wireless control system for its incorporation in medium voltage (MV) switchgears up to 36kV, allowing the final integration of the new MV circuit breakers. The improvement of the safety and protection of people during operations and preventive and / or corrective maintenance of equipment in the plant is a key point in the project, in addition, the incorporation of predictive maintenance algorithms will provide the possibility of avoiding unscheduled stops due to equipment failures, reducing production losses.

From a mechanical point of view, a proprietary MV switchgear will be designed where circuit breakers from different manufacturers could be installed, obtaining independence from the supply of circuit breaker cubicles by manufacturers and achieving an improvement in competitiveness within the market.

The project has been approved by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) throught the Spain Regional Policy Program 2014-2020.
